Papaya
The origins of the papaya have been lost to the tale of time, but its legacy and juicy flavor have not! Despite being referred to as a fruit, papayas are botanically berries. Even more interesting is that the papaya tree is not really a tree. It is an herbaceous plant! Papaya is not the only name that this berry-bearing herb has! Papayas are also known as Papaws, kapaya, kepaya, lapaya, tapaya, melón zapote, lechosa, payaya, fruta bomba, mamón, and mamona. What an identity crisis! One thing is certain, however; this fruit (berry?) is delicious!
