Vincent (female) Kiwi
Actinidia deliciosa 'Vincent'
Vincent Kiwi is a female variety of kiwi, meaning that it must be near the male, non-fruiting variety of kiwi, the Tomuri Kiwi, in order to produce fruit. The fruit that Vincent Kiwis produce are roughly the same size as the kiwis you can buy at the grocery store. They are sweet and have a hint of a strawberry flavor in addition to its classic kiwi taste.
- Full Sun to Partial Shade
- Water regularly
- USDA Zone: 8-9
Care
Plant your kiwi vines at least 10 feet apart in well-draining soil. Kiwis require a lot of water in the fruiting season and regular watering year-round. Kiwis are vines, so they require surfaces to climb up onto. Kiwis are not self-fertile, therefore you need both the female and male kiwi plant (Vincent and Tomuri) to produce fruit. The female kiwi has larger, rounder leaves and the male has smaller, more oblong leaves.
